Mercedes-Benz Trucks has recorded its best-ever sales in Australia in 2021.
Led by the Actros and Arocs heavy-duty hauliers, Mercedes-Benz Trucks set a new high mark of 1290, breaking the previous record of 1189. Sales were so strong that Mercedes-Benz Trucks passed the milestone with one month to spare.
The striking result came despite supply disruptions that took some heat out of sales in the last few months of the year.
The Mercedes-Benz Actros has fast become one of the top selling cab-over prime movers in the Australian market.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia Pacific Director, Andrew Assimo, says the sales result is a reflection of the total value and performance of its heavy-duty trucks.

Higher Demand
“Mercedes-Benz trucks are in higher demand than ever as more operators experience the comfort and refinement, long service intervals, legendary fuel economy and exceptional performance of the Actros and Arocs models,” he says.
“Ever since we introduced the Euro 6 Actros in 2016, owners have discovered for themselves the total cost savings delivered by our trucks and the benefits of the class-leading support packages that back them,” Mr Assimo says.
Mr Assimo adds; “We’re appreciative to all our customers and we look forward to continuing to provide them with our outstanding products and services to support their transport needs.”
The Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ record year is part of a larger success story at Daimler Truck and Bus Australia, with the sibling brands Freightliner and Fuso also recording positive results.

The Actros has long led the market and was the first to make the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) Active Brake Assist system standard back in 2010 and the first to introduce Euro 6 on all models and ratings in its range in 2016.
The recently introduced latest generation model brought new technologies such as premium tablet-style Multimedia Cockpit information screens, Predictive Powertrain Control, which uses GPS and topographic information to optimise gearshifts and coast when safe, optional Mirror Cam and the further advanced Active Brake Assist 5 safety package.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks continues to work towards introducing new technology and innovation to benefit its customers and is currently testing Active Drive Assist system, which enables SAE Level 2 partially automated driving in order to make like easier for the driver, across Australia.
