It was a sight to behold, a freshly minted first week on the road, a stunning Kenworth K220 cattle unit parked up for the night at the Tuakau Saleyards. This unique unit, with its distinctive features, was a testament to the innovation in livestock trucking.
Progressive Carriers Ltd of Parakai, near Helensville, just Northwest of Auckland, run two stunning Kenworths on nationwide livestock duties, specialising in the long-distance dedicated cattle inter-island work.
In fact, after the night in Tuakau, Invercargill was next on the passport check….
Ben Grace, a seasoned livestock trucker, is rarely home, and his new K220, kitted out with all the creature comforts of home, helps with all the days and nights of trucking alone. And this new K220 is on another level!
Thanks to the ingenious work of Rick Leonard Engineering Taupo, Ben’s new K220 is a home away from home. Complete with a shower, ice pack with hot and cold water, sliding table, gas cooking elements, and ample storage, it’s a testament to the fact that life on the road can be made more bearable. Ben’s experience hauling cattle in Outback Australia has been instrumental in creating this unique yet highly functional trucking operation.

The paint scheme is from Cliff Mannington Truck Signs, and as expected, it reflects the typical Aussie look and is indeed rated as one of the most eye-catching designs around.
The deep two-deck cattle Nationwide crates are not just a design feature, but a functional element. They are designed from the get-go to minimize bruising and ‘back rub’, making them easy to use, functional, and safe for both the operator and the cattle. This design ensures efficient and safe livestock transportation.
