The East West Connection – Transcontinental Dash 2026 photo album captures a modern tribute to Australia’s fast-freight golden era, following Mick Linger and his Highland Haulage crew as they retrace the original east–west runs in two legendary 1980s trucks, Krystal Dreams and Clevland Freightlines’ Mack Muncher LT28.
Born in the horsepower wars of the 1980s, this Ford LTL 9000, aptly named “Krystal Dreams”, became a legend on the notorious East–West run across the Nullarbor, where fast trucking was king. Now, its restoration brings that golden era roaring back to life, thanks to Highland Haulage owner Mick Linger.
“I’ve just paid the registration on my old Dodge tipper for the 52nd year,” Rodney Linger smiled as he introduced himself.
