Solo Resources Invests in 50 New IVECO Trucks to Power Growing Waste Contracts

When it comes to waste and recycling, there aren’t many bigger names on the street or in the job than Solo Resources. For decades, the company has been a quiet powerhouse behind Australia’s waste management services, and now they’re making noise again with a serious investment in fleet power: 50 new IVECO trucks.
Delivered as part of a series of new contract wins, the fleet includes a broad mix of IVECO’s proven performers, ACCOs, S-Ways and Eurocargos—each chosen to meet the specific demands of Solo’s expanding national workload.
A Tailored Fleet for a Demanding Industry
The majority of the trucks are factory-fitted dual-control ACCO 6×4 models, built to withstand the rigours of side-loader compactor bodywork—Solo’s bread and butter. But this isn’t a one-size-fits-all operation.
Also on the books are two powerful S-Way 6×4 550 AS prime movers. These big hitters are tasked with bulk haulage duties, hauling hydraulic walking-floor trailers loaded with waste. And for skip bin operations, there’s an S-Way 550 8×4 hooklift rigid towing a dog trailer, ready to tackle the commercial side of the business.
For tighter streets and busy foreshore zones—especially the tourist-packed precincts of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula—Solo has deployed two medium-duty Eurocargo ML160s, fitted with compact rear-load bodies. Their smaller footprint makes them ideal for weaving through congested areas without compromising on capability.

A Partnership Forged in Steel (and Rubbish)
Solo Resources’ National Fleet Manager, Mark Taylor, says the IVECO relationship isn’t just about buying trucks—it’s about building better solutions.
“Solo Resources has been manufacturing refuse collection bodies since the late 1930s at our Tweed Heads facility,” Mark explained. “We started building on the ACCO platform when it was first developed and have continued across every generation of the model.”
It’s more than just history, though. “We work closely with IVECO whenever we design a new body. Their engineering and field support is second to none—it’s a genuine partnership,” he added.
That collaboration pays off in performance. The latest ACCO units feature Euro 6 (Step E) 310HP engines paired with Allison 3200 fully automatic transmissions—ideal for the punishing start-stop cycles of waste collection. Built for manoeuvrability, payload capacity and durability, these trucks are earning their keep across local government contracts in SA, NSW and VIC, with WA set to come online soon.

Smart Trucks for a Smarter Future
In addition to rugged reliability, Solo’s latest IVECOs are equipped with the ‘IVECO On’ telematics platform—a smart fleet monitoring system that comes with a 12-month subscription as standard.
“It complements our own in-house telematics, which is designed specifically for the waste industry,” Mark said. “IVECO On helps us track fuel use, plan maintenance, and get real-time diagnostics. It’s another tool that keeps our fleet efficient and ready.”

200 Trucks Strong—and Growing
The 50 new IVECOs are just the latest chapter in a busy expansion phase for Solo Resources. Over the past 36 months, the company has added more than 200 IVECO trucks to its fleet, supporting both contract growth and fleet renewal programs.
And while some might outsource maintenance, Solo keeps its fleet in top condition with in-house servicing across its national network of workshops.
From inner-city laneways to regional bulk haul routes, Solo Resources and IVECO continue to prove that the future of waste management rides on the back of innovation, reliability, and a well-matched truck.
