In large-scale mining and civil operations, productivity is rarely measured in effort. It is measured in uptime.
When a critical machine stops, the meter starts running immediately, often to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars per day. And when that happens, it is not the excavator or the haul truck that becomes the most important asset on site. It is the service truck.

That approach has guided recent fleet expansion decisions, including the addition of new IVECO T-Way 6×6 units, purpose-built for service truck duties in Western Australia’s mining sector.

Built for the places most trucks would rather not go
ESM’s introduction to the T-Way platform began in 2024 with water cart applications, but it did not take long for the suitability of the chassis to become apparent for more complex roles.
“We were attracted to IVECO’s reputation for durability and its suitability for heavy-duty off-road work,” Pearce explained.
“The T-Way 6×6 platform offered the right balance of power and mine-site capability. Access to remote locations and operating in mining environments were key requirements.”
And that is precisely where the T-Way earns its keep.
The AD380 6×6 is engineered with triple differential locks, a low-range transfer case and parabolic suspension front and rear, allowing it to maintain traction and articulation across terrain that quickly exposes any weakness in lesser platforms.
Under the cab sits a Euro 6 (Step E) engine producing 450 horsepower and 2,200Nm of torque, paired with IVECO’s Hi-Tronix 16-speed Automated Manual Transmission.
On paper, those numbers tell one story.
Out in the Pilbara, loaded to a GVM of 32,000kg and working within a 60,000kg GCM, they tell another.
It is not just about pulling power. It is about delivering that performance consistently, day after day, without adding complexity for the operator.

A workshop on wheels, where it matters most
ESM’s latest T-Way is fitted with an AES 7000 service body, transforming the truck into a fully self-contained mobile workshop.
Onboard systems include pumps and compressors, along with storage for water, diesel, oils, grease and coolant, everything required to keep critical plant moving without the need to return to base.
It is a configuration designed for one purpose. Keep machines running where they are. Several months into a long-term hire contract in the Pilbara, the results are already clear.
“Feedback has been extremely positive,” Pearce said. “Operators appreciate the power, stability and comfort of the T-Way platform, while our clients value the reliability and reduced downtime the unit is helping deliver.”
Investment driven by demand, not assumption
While the addition of the T-Way units forms part of ESM Resources’ broader fleet expansion to meet increasing demand, the decision also reflects a deliberate move towards newer, more capable equipment.
