  Shrinking the Continent (DVD)

Nowhere else in the world has trucking had such a dynamic effect as it has on Australia. The vast barren continent that eluded explorers for the first half of the century of this country’s western inhabitancy proved even more elusive fo the long iron railway.

Unlike most of the modern world where railways have traditionally carried the majority of the freight since the early 1800’s in Australia however it has been road transport that has carried this country.

This is the story of some of the men, women and machines that “Shrunk the Continent” told in their own words - “Straight from the horse’s mouth” so to speak...

Includes original rare film of outback trucking pioneer Kurt Johannsen’s Diamond - T Roadtrain, the Rotinoff “Viscount” in action and hear the story of the development of the unique “Rhodes_Ridley” from the man you worked on it five decades ago and much more.
